Thankfulness

Thankfulness is defined according to thefreedictionary.com as a warm friendly feeling of gratitude. It’s an amazing feeling that is profound and meaningful in our lives. This time of year we get together with family and friends and attempt to be thankful for the things in our life. Thanksgiving is a time where we acknowledge that things could be worse and then we stuff our faces with food. I wanted to take a moment and write this post to just acknowledge some of the things that I’m thankful for. To start… I am thankful for life. I am also thankful for my amazing wife. I am thankful for the things that God has blessed me with, and the things that he hasn’t. I am thankful for pain and the strength that it builds. I am thankful for struggles and the moments of triumph. I am thankful for mistakes made and lessons learned. I am thankful for my imperfect family and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

I am thankful for my crazy friends. I am thankful for my down to earth friends. And I’m thankful for all of those friends in between. In truth, I am thankful for everything in my life. It is easy to get caught up in the day to day grind and truly forget that even at our worst, here in our country we have it better off than many people around the world. With that said, we shouldn’t gloat or allow pride to eat its way into our hearts. Instead, we should recognize that fact and try to make the little differences that we can to improve this world. As I look to the future, I smile with an understanding that the world is an amazing place, a gift that God has blessed us with. I carry no shame in admitting my faith in God, it is a core piece of who I am. I am thankful for God.

I am thankful that one day my novels will be published. I am thankful for my love to create and to write. I am thankful for our future home now under construction. I am thankful for having the freedoms that we have in this country. And lastly, I am thankful for every person who takes the time to actually read these blog posts. The one ask I have of you is to take time to be thankful… especially more than just one day a year. You’d be surprised of the shift in mindset that occurs in your own life.
